No, Sterling Hill Stables isn't a real place... but it's heavily based on several barns that Anna has worked at and managed, including her current farm in Pennsylvania! She's added on a few things she would love to have - like grooming stalls - and kept things she already has, like a big outdoor ring, riding trails, and a friendly barn dog.

Good question! At the start of Book #1, Silver Bit, the three girls are in the summer between 5th and 6th grade. Megan and Olivia are both 11, and Abigail will turn 11 in Book #2, Opening Circle.

Sterling Hill Stables was/is written for children ages 8 to 14, but can really be read by horse lovers of all ages. All of the characters, themes, and dialogue is age appropriate, although some "heavier" topics are gently introduced:

The horses in the story - Silver Bit, Daisy, Copper, and Starlight (with a lot more to come) - are all fictional, but just like Sterling Hill Stables, they're heavily influenced by horses that Anna has either owned in real life or taught on during her lessons.
